Hassan Fathy (1900-1989) was an egyptian architect who worked hard to creat an indigenous environment at a minimal cost, to improve the economy and the standard of living in rural areas. Climatic conditions, public health considarations and ancient craft skils afected his design decisions. At the time of the rising "luxury" of concrete Hassan Fathy created inexpensive masterpiecies of mud and brick walls.
